Audio Alerts
New Order Sound
A sound plays when a new order arrives. Kitchen staff hear it even when not looking at the screen.
Sound Options

| Chime | Subtle, professional |
| Beep | Clear, attention-grabbing |
| Bell | Traditional, loud |
| Voice | "New order" spoken aloud |
Configure Audio
- Go to Settings → Audio
- Choose your sound type
- Adjust volume
- Test the sound
Visual Alerts
Screen Flash
The screen briefly flashes when a new order arrives, catching attention even from across the kitchen.
Color Indicators
| Color | Meaning | Action |

| Blue/White | New order | Start preparing |
| Yellow | Taking too long | Speed up |
| Red | Overdue | Prioritize now |
| Green | Ready | Bump to complete |
Badge Notifications
A counter badge shows the number of new orders since you last viewed the screen.
Urgency Alerts
Time-Based Alerts
Orders change color based on how long they've been waiting:
| Time | Status | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0-10 min | Normal | White/Blue |
| 10-15 min | Warning | Yellow |
| 15+ min | Urgent | Red |
Times are configurable in Settings
Rush Order Alerts
Rush orders have a special indicator and may trigger an extra alert sound.
Browser Permissions
For audio to work, you must allow notifications:
- When prompted, click Allow
- If you missed it, click the lock icon in browser
- Enable Sound and Notifications
If Sound Doesn't Work
- Check browser permissions (allow for this site)
- Check device isn't on silent/mute
- Check KDS volume setting
- Try a different browser
Alert Schedule
Quiet Hours
Reduce alert volume during specific hours:
- Go to Settings → Audio → Schedule
- Set quiet hours (e.g., staff meetings)
- Set reduced volume level
Per-Order-Type Alerts
Configure different sounds for different order types:

| Delivery | Louder beep |
| Rush orders | Urgent bell |
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| No sound | Check browser permissions, device volume |
| Sound too quiet | Increase KDS volume and device volume |
| Constant alerts | Check if orders are backing up |
| Wrong sound | Go to Settings → Audio → Sound Type |
| Alerts annoying team | Reduce volume or change sound type |
