Shift Schedule
Visual weekly planner to create, assign, edit, and publish staff shifts for proper coverage.
Shift Schedule
The Shift Schedule is a visual weekly planner that lets you create, assign, edit, and publish staff shifts. It helps ensure proper coverage and lets your team know when they are expected.

Accessing Shift Schedule
Step 1: In the sidebar under Team, click Shift Schedule.
Step 2: The current week (or last viewed period) loads with your employees and shift grid.
Understanding the View
- Rows = Employees (with name, role/job title)
- Columns = Days of the week (or specific dates)
- Cells = Assigned shifts (time range, possibly role or notes)
Color coding or status usually indicates:
- Draft / Unpublished
- Published (visible to staff)
- Completed or in-progress shifts
Creating and Assigning Shifts
Step 1: Click the + or empty cell for an employee on a specific day.
Step 2: Fill the shift details:
- Start time / End time
- (Optional) Break or notes
- Role or station if your setup uses it
Step 3: Save the shift. It appears in the grid.
You can usually drag or edit existing shifts to adjust times.
Publishing the Schedule
After building the week:
Step 1: Review all assigned shifts for coverage gaps.
Step 2: Click Publish (or equivalent).
Step 3: Confirm the date range.
Once published, staff can typically see their shifts (via POS app, notifications, or their view in the portal depending on your setup).
Managing Coverage & Changes
- Delete or edit individual shifts as plans change.
- Look for indicators of under/over staffing.
- Some setups allow copying a previous week's schedule as a starting point.
Best Practices
- Publish schedules with enough lead time (e.g. by Wednesday for the following week).
- Use consistent shift templates (lunch, dinner, full day) where possible.
- Cross-reference with the Calendar and expected order volume from Reports / Dashboard when planning.
- Keep the employee list up to date (see Employees / User Access).
