Automations

Set up trigger-based automated email and SMS sequences (welcome, re-engagement, birthday, post-order) to engage customers without manual work.

Automations

Automations let you create trigger-based email and SMS sequences that run automatically based on customer behavior or events. This is one of the highest-ROI marketing features for retention — welcome new customers, win back lapsed ones, celebrate birthdays, and follow up after orders without lifting a finger every time.

Automations Overview

Accessing Automations

Step 1: Go to Marketing in the sidebar.

Step 2: Select the Automations tab or entry (may appear under Email & SMS or as a dedicated tool).

You will see a list of existing automations with status (active/paused), trigger type, and performance stats (sent, opened, clicked, converted).

Creating or Editing an Automation

Step 1: Click Create Automation or New Sequence.

Step 2: Choose a trigger (the event that starts the flow):

  • New customer signup / first order (welcome series)
  • Abandoned cart
  • Post-order / order completed (thank you + review request)
  • Birthday or anniversary
  • Re-engagement (no order in X days)
  • Specific segment entry or custom event

Step 3: Build the sequence:

  • Add one or more steps (email or SMS).
  • Set delays between steps (e.g. immediately, after 2 days, after 1 week).
  • Add conditions (only if order > €30, only for delivery customers, etc.).
  • Use templates or the visual editor to customize content, insert offers, personalization tags (first name, last order, etc.).

Step 4: Set goals / exit conditions (e.g. stop if customer places an order or unsubscribes).

Step 5: Activate the automation.

Common Automation Types & Best Practices

  • Welcome series: 2-3 messages over first 10 days. Strong offer on step 1 or 2. Measure first-order conversion.
  • Win-back / re-engagement: Trigger after 30/60/90 days of inactivity. Offer a meaningful incentive.
  • Post-purchase: Thank you + "how was it?" + cross-sell relevant items. Great for reviews and repeat orders.
  • Birthday/anniversary: Personal, low-pressure, small reward. High open rates.
  • Abandoned cart: 1-3 reminders with decreasing urgency + the cart contents or recommended items.

Tips:

  • Keep messages short and valuable.
  • Always include a clear CTA and an easy way to opt out.
  • Test on yourself (use a test customer or segment).
  • Monitor performance per automation and pause under-performers.
  • Respect frequency — don't overwhelm the same customer with many overlapping automations.

Reporting & Optimization

Most automation views show:

  • Total sends, unique opens, clicks, revenue attributed (if tracking enabled).
  • Drop-off between steps.
  • Unsubscribe rate.

Use this to iterate: change subject lines, offers, timing, or number of steps.

Note: The exact triggers, editor capabilities, and attribution features depend on your enabled marketing modules and email/SMS provider integration. Some advanced conditional logic or A/B testing inside sequences may be plan-dependent.

Automations are "set and forget" once tuned — they are one of the best ways to increase repeat business with minimal ongoing effort. Start with 1-2 high-impact flows (welcome + win-back) and expand from there.
