Category Sales Report
The Category Sales Report breaks down your sales by menu category (Starters, Mains, Desserts, Drinks, etc.). It's perfect for understanding which parts of your menu are performing well and where you might need to adjust pricing, promotions, or offerings.

Accessing Category Sales Report
Step 1: Navigate to Reports & Analytics in the sidebar.
Step 2: Select Category Sales (or Category Sales Report).
Data is shown for the selected time period (use the same date picker as other reports).
What It Shows
- Revenue and quantity per category
- Percentage of total sales
- Average order contribution from each category
- Trend vs previous period (if enabled)
You can often drill down from a category to see the items within it.
Use Cases
- See if your high-margin categories are actually selling.
- Identify categories that are dragging down average check.
- Plan promotions: boost a weak category or capitalize on a strong one.
- Menu engineering: decide what to feature, remove, or reprice.
Export
Export the breakdown as CSV/Excel for further analysis or to share with your team/chef/accountant.

Note: Category structure comes from your menu setup. If categories are very broad or very granular, the report's usefulness changes accordingly.
