Settings
Customize your Kitchen Display to match your kitchen's workflow. Access settings by tapping the gear icon in the top-right corner.
Display Settings
Appearance

Color Customization

Timing Thresholds
| Setting | Default | Description |

| Warning time | 10 min | Order card turns yellow |
| Urgent time | 15 min | Order card turns red |
Adjust timing thresholds based on your kitchen's speed. Fast-casual restaurants might set warning to 5 minutes, while fine dining might use 20 minutes.
Audio Settings
Sound Alerts

Audio alerts require browser notification permissions. If sounds don't play, check that the browser allows notifications for the KDS domain. See Notifications troubleshooting.
Station Settings
Select Your Station
- Go to Settings → Station
- Choose your station from the list (Grill, Prep, Bar, etc.)
- Only items assigned to this station will appear on your screen
Station Display Options

| Show only my items | Clean view — only your station's items |
| Show all items (mine highlighted) | Full order context, your items stand out |
| Auto-bump | Order disappears when your items are done (multi-station) |

Behavior Settings
Order Display
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Sort by | Time (oldest first), Priority, or Order number |
| Show completed | Keep bumped orders visible for X minutes |
| Auto-refresh | Reload page every X minutes (optional safety net) |
Interactions
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Confirm bump | Ask "Are you sure?" before bumping — prevents accidental bumps |
| Swipe to bump | Swipe gesture to complete orders |
| Long-press actions | Context menu on long press (recall, rush, etc.) |
Accessibility
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| High Contrast | Increased color contrast for better visibility |
| Large Touch Targets | Bigger buttons — easier to tap with gloves or wet hands |
| Screen Reader | Voice reading of new orders |
| Reduce Motion | Disables animations for less visual distraction |
Large Touch Targets is especially useful in busy kitchens where staff wear gloves or have wet hands. Increases tap areas by 50%.
Reset to Defaults
To restore all settings to factory defaults:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to the bottom
- Tap Reset to Defaults
- Confirm the reset
Resetting clears all customizations including station selection, sound preferences, and saved filter presets. You'll need to reconfigure after resetting.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Settings not saving | Check that browser cookies are enabled for the KDS domain |
| No sound | Check device volume, then browser permissions. See Notifications |
| Settings reset on refresh | Cookies are being blocked — enable them for the KDS domain |
| Can't find a setting | Settings are organized by category — Display, Audio, Station, Behavior, Accessibility |
| Wrong station showing | Go to Settings → Station and reselect the correct station |
